Strategy & Planning

Turn where you want the business to go into a financial strategy and a long-range plan, with the priorities and capital to get there.

Our view

Strategy fails most often not in the idea but in the gap between the idea and the plan to fund it. A vision that never becomes a multi-year financial plan, with priorities ranked and capital assigned, stays a slide. The work of strategic finance is to close that gap: to translate where leadership wants to take the business into the choices, the capital, and the milestones that make it real and to keep the plan honest as conditions change.

When this is the work

When the vision is clear but the path is not.

Leadership knows where it wants to take the business but has no financial plan connecting the ambition to the next few years of decisions, capital, and resources. We build that bridge.

  • The long-range plan is a number, not a strategy
  • Growth ambitions outrun the capital and resource plan
  • Strategy and the budget have drifted apart

Common questions

Strategy & Planning, in plain terms.

What is strategic finance?

It is the finance leader's role in setting and funding strategy: turning where the business wants to go into a multi-year financial plan, ranking the priorities, assigning the capital, and defining the milestones. It connects ambition to the decisions and resources that deliver it.

How is this different from FP&A or budgeting?

FP&A and budgeting run the near-term operating plan. Strategy and planning sets the multi-year direction the budget then executes. One asks where we are going and how we fund it; the other asks how we run this year against that direction.

Do you set the strategy or help us fund it?

Both, from the finance seat. We help leadership choose among strategic paths by testing each for value, capital, and risk, then build the plan that funds the chosen one. The vision is yours; we make it financially real.

What do we end up with?

A long-range financial plan that ranks priorities, assigns capital, and sets milestones, plus the operating plan and budget that execute it. The point is a strategy the numbers can deliver, not a document that sits on a shelf.
